Who is Msgr. Anselm Nwaorgu?

Msgr. Anselm Nwaorgu is a Catholic priest of the Archdiocese of Newark, New Jersey, ordained in May 1992. In 2009, he became the first native African-born priest in the U.S. Catholic Church elevated to the status of Monsignor. He holds a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Seton Hall University and is a licensed psychologist in New Jersey. He currently serves as a consultant to the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) on the Pastoral Care of African Immigrants.

The Reflections are Msgr. Anselm's original written commentaries on the Sunday Mass readings, organized by liturgical year (Cycle A, B, and C). They combine Scripture, Catholic teaching, and personal pastoral insight, and have been published on this site since at least 2019.
